Incident
Recently, while operating the Discover AMLD system, system alerted of a potential natural gas indication during a survey that required immediate investigation.
Our Heath technician contacted the local utility dispatch requesting a crew to assist with leak investigation due to strong gas odors outside a residence. Utilizing a RMLD-CS during their investigation the Heath technician had readings of natural gas registering at every window on the house, the attic soffit vent and noticied the gas meter was showing excessive registration.
It was decided at this time it would be best to also contact the local fire and police departments for assistance. Contact was also made with the resident for their safety, upon opening the door gas poured out of the residence.
Outcome
It was confirmed an indoor leak was caused by a broken flex line to the furnace in the attic. Gas was leaking heavily, filling the entire home with gas. The resident was unaware there was a leak.
Thanks to Heath’s Technician's vigilance, and his adherence to following proper procedures, this incident could have turned out very differently resulting in loss of life & property.
